How to Apply for Wheelchair Funding

We understand the vital importance of having a reliable and suitable wheelchair for independence and mobility. To ensure we consider all applications fairly, please follow these steps before applying for support from the Frenkel Topping Charitable Foundation:

Step 1: Complete an NHS Wheelchair Assessment

This is the first step. You can find information on how to get a free NHS wheelchair assessment here.

Step 2: Apply for the NHS Wheelchair Budget

Learn about the Personal Health Budget (PHB) from the NHS, which can help cover the cost of a personalised wheelchair suited to your needs.

Step 3: Consider Additional Funding Options

You can supplement your personal wheelchair budget with:

• Your own money
• A grant or charity funding (such as from the Frenkel Topping Charitable Foundation)
• Crowdfunding

Important Note

We cannot process any applications without evidence of an NHS wheelchair assessment. Please complete the NHS assessment before filling out our application form. We do not accept any other types of reports (e.g., occupational health reports) in place of the NHS wheelchair assessment.

If you encounter a refusal to assess, or if the assessment declines to offer a wheelchair or budget, please discuss review or re-assessment options with your GP.
